Are you a musician who plays by ear only with some experience of musical notation but wants to learn to read music? Or are you a beginner with some practical experience but needs a step by step help with reading music? This course is for you to build on what you know and it deals with the basic concepts which will stand you in good stead when you have to deal with more advanced concepts. It is the foundation that will propel you into a greater understanding of reading music and applying that knowledge to instrument. Stephanie is a music teacher of many years experience. Stephanie has worked with students to prepare and perform at festivals as well as prepare students for music exams where requested. She has also performed solo and in groups with others performing on the piano, singing and recorder duets to bring entertainment to the masses. With a passion for seeing students progress from beginner to advanced level, Stephanie deals with the basics of music theory at Level 1 or grade 1 standard in a lively way in this presentation. She tries to capture those areas that often raise questions about applying music theory to the instrument. Stephanie will be taking students from learning how to write the treble and bass clef to learning to read musical notes. They will then learn about scales, intervals and music analysis at level 1 standard. These are so important to give students a firm foundation in music theory and it will make them confident at reading music as well as analysing music. Stephanie also gives plenty of activities which will give students opportunities to practise the new concepts that they learn during the course. This course can also be used to supplement learning while taking lessons in learning to play the piano or keyboard. It will also help singers who have little or no background in music theory, but need to learn it to develop sight singing skills. Most importantly, this course prepares students for the Grade 1 level music exams and therefore is of tremendous value to those who have a passion for music or who want to learn the fundamentals of music theory for the purpose of taking the Grade 1 level music exams.
